This year was our 21st annual Founder’s Day and the banquet was held at the Crowne Hotel on Sunday October 16. The introduction was given by Chelsey Smith, our Chapter President, and this is where she introduced the sorority to all the guests that attended and talked about all the things we had done this past year.
Every year awards are given to those sisters who show the most dedication and sigma alpha spirit in their rush class, and there is also an award given for the best sister overall. This year best sister overall was awarded to our President, Chelsey Smith, best senior was awarded to Melody Ratliff, best junior was given to Clare Barker, best sophomore was awarded to Alyssa Clements, and best rush was awarded to Brittany Mitchell. There was also a special award presented to our advisor, Mrs. Gray, for all her help.
Our biggest philanthropies this year were our national philanthropy Ag in the Classroom, and cooking dinner and other small forms of support for Ronald McDonald House. There was also recognition given to those who work the hardest and devote the most time to our philanthropies. These awards were given to Alexis Maneese, Cassie Honick, Kathryn Herbert, Marissa Amos, Sarah Orr, and Austin Leedy.
The seniors graduating in either December 2011 or May 2012 were also recognized and presented with farewell gifts. Our graduating seniors are: Katie Anders, Marsha Bartholomay, Kristin Collins-Kindall, Melissa Edwards, Ashley Ellis, Erica Jenkins, Kim King, Austin Leedy, Dana Partington, Porsha Poland, Niki Presgraves, Melody Ratliff, Chelsey Smith, Katie Styke, and Sam Woodruff.
Thanks to Porsha Poland for providing this news post on Founder’s Day.
